Effective leadership requires the efforts of outside partners. Your team cannot consistently do it alone. Someone from another department or agency must do their part to allow you to complete your mission. The challenge comes when they believe their performance is superior, but in reality its marginal. They believe their team (department) is a mile deep, but in reality they’re only a mile wide and inch deep.

You need them to fill a void, but they just don’t have a sense of urgency in completing their part. It’s exhausting! Finding the path forward is a challenge, but the reality is that quitting isn’t an option. You still need them. You’re the leader! You have to figure it out! The completion of the mission is your responsibility! You have to move from a “why can’t I” mentality to a “how can I” mindset. It’s not easy but it’s your responsibility!
